
Complete Works List 2009 - 2010
Students may enter the Complete Works Audition (CWA) only once each year as a soloist on the same instrument and must perform the same music in the same category that they performed at the Branch and Regional Festivals, but complete as indicated on this list. Students will be disqualified if photocopied music is presented to the judges or used by accompanists (with the exception of facilitating page turns).
The following categories will remain the same each year.
Category XVII – ORGAN
Any complete original work of J.S. Bach or two contrasting Chorale Preludes. Memorization not required.
Category XVIII – VIOLIN
Any complete original work of Bach, accompanied or unaccompanied, except the concerti listed in Category XXIV and the Chaconne and Fugue listed in Category XIX. For works with more than 3 movements, 4 main sections or movements will be required for adjudication. Exception: The Fugue from Sonata No. 3 in C Major is optional. The remaining three movements from this work will suffice for the Complete Works Audition.

Category XX – VIOLA AND VIOLONCELLO
Violoncello works may be used for the viola. The same provisions as for violin. The sonatas for viola da gamba are acceptable for both the viola and the 'cello.
Category XXI – FLUTE
The same provisions as for violin. Memorization is optional, except for the Suite in bm in Category XXIV. Any 4 main sections of the Suite may be played in this category without string quartet appearance. No Photocopies may be used.
Category XXII – VOICE
Two representative arias from any work, with or without recitative, selected from the cantatas, masses, passions, oratorios or arias of Bach. English realization of the text is acceptable.
Category XXIV – VIOLIN CONCERTI
Memorization is required for all concerti.

Category XXV – FLUTE SUITE IN B MINOR, BWV 1067
Any four main sections of the Suite in B Minor except the Overture may be played, Lentement, Rondeau, Sarabande, Bouree I and II, Polonaise, or Badinerie. This category is for string quartet appearance. Memorization is required.
Category XXVI – ENSEMBLES
Any work of two or more parts of equal importance, all parts being performed by students meeting eligibility requirements. Memorization is not required. Concerti are not eligible in this category.
